Kamelot Auction House closed out the spring auction season with their first ever three day auction which was held June 12th-June 14th in Philadelphia. The comprehensive three day event included over 1400 lots of fine art, decorative arts, Orientalia, mid Century and Continental furniture, lighting, mirrors, rugs, garden antiques, and much more.

The first day of the sale presented a host of fine arts, decorative arts, and Orientalia. Among the many treasures, a true front runner was lot 164, Rare Madoura Picasso goat's head ceramic platter signed "P.P. 25" with impressed marks at the bottom. Collectors of Picasso Madoura ceramics from all over the globe competed for this rare gem, which brought a final selling price of $12,000. Much anticipated by collectors was a collection of rare Japanese pillar clocks, many having ornately engraved and pierced decoration. These clocks were used to measure temporal hours (daylight) and as such, have adjustable seasonal markers on throat. The collection (lots 108-115) sold for a total $27,750. After a bout of heated competition, the entire collection finally sold to a collector in Austria. Many fine American and European paintings cross the auction block as well. Those buyers interested in clocks will be pleased to hear that Kamelot's clock consignment will continue into their October 18 auction will feature a collection of 400+ clocks. Fine art also performed well on the first day of the three day sale. Lot 353 was beautiful signed oil on canvas painting by Italian artist Enrico Fanfani (Italy, 1824-1885) featuring Helen of Troy gazing out to sea. The painting was housed in a monumental Rococo style gilt wood frame and sold for $7,800.

Day two of the sale was met with continued success and featured twentieth Century furnishings with predominate offerings of Mid Century ad Art Deco, with the Art Deco category bringing the two top sellers. Lot 627 was a French Art Deco macassar marble top commode circa 1930. The case having three drawers and canted sides which sold for $8,100 and lot 629 was a good five piece Art Deco macassar executive office suite comprised of a bookcase, desk, and three desk top accessories circa 1940. The office suite sold for $6,000. Continentel furniture offerings inlcuded a Louis XV style carved and painted salon set that sold for $7,500 (lot 919) and a Louis XV style bronze mounted marble top vitrine which sold for $7,200. One of the top selling lots of the sale was a palace size semi antique Oriental rug (lot 1417) which sold for a whopping $9,000.
